In 2007, the association “Partage dans le Monde” introduces a project for embroidery training (see also the Seliamedu program).
Within this program co-financed by the European Union (EU), a group of twelve young women from the village start training in the Sisters of Cluny’s workshop in Pondicherry.
After a year of training, the results are promising and the project continues. A new round of advanced training takes place, and with the help of some volunteers, production starts.
Years 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 will be dedicated to this workshop’s installation and the launch of the production of household linen.

Objectives :

  • – Acquisition of professional skills and social valorisation of women of the village
  • – Remuneration of the work done
  • – Local sales and exportation
  • – Financial participation to ensure self management of the budget for training and the logistics of the Seliamedu program.

Means :
In India :

  • An Indian training manager.
  • A voluntary interim French member.
  • An Indian employed manager.
  • Active PDM members will perform regular missions

In France :

  • A volunteering team of designers and production coordinators.
  • Seeking sponsors for operating costs over 2 years (10,000 € / year).
  • Development of marketing.

Current status of the project :

  • Sales and orders are growing steadily
  • After 4 running months, sales reached around 1,500 €
  • Partnership project with the company “Creative Art of Soul” in Pondicherry.
