French and Indian medical staff put their competence and expertise together to provide free basic medical care to rural populations, living mainly below thresholds of poverty. A first dispensary is created in 1993 to achieve these objectives, in the village of Mevalur in the suburbs of Chennai. Later three other dispensaries were opened : In 1997, in a village of fishermen Nadukkupam, near Pondicherry. In 1999, a dispensary in the clinic of Doctor Nallam in Pondicherry. And lastly in 2002, a European Union cofinancing makes possible the construction of a fourth dispensary in the village of Seliamedu West of Pondicherry.
