The aim of the project is to extend the geographical outreach of the medical action of Partage dans le Monde to rural areas of Tamil Nadu near Pondicherry which do not have access to medical care.

The project will cover 4 villages and concern around 10. 000 inhabitants.
A Mobile Medical Unit for efficient health care coverage of a given population

The doctors of Partage Dans le Monde have observed on the ground :

  • The importance of illness due to poverty and hardship of work : nutritional deprivation, parasitosis of the intestins, anaemia, illnesses of muscles and the skeleton, alcoholism of men etc...,
  • The importance of chronic illnesses such as hypertension and the highest world population percentage of diabetes,
  • The importance of psychiatric problems.
  • The lack of sanitary education which is an aggravating factor of severe and recurring diseases : water pollution, absence of latrines, bad general hygiene...

Actions of prevention and sanitary education will be performed in parallel with therapeutic action.

A medical action based on the active participation of the villagers and the reality of the environmen.

The medical action and health education are based on :

  • A Franco-Indian medical team
  • Health Workers as they guarantee continuity of the actions and are privileged interlocutors of the medical teams and the villagers,
  • Village authorities as they are stakeholders
  • Development of the cooperation with Primary Health Centers and local hospitals After a certain length of time, the action in the villages will be run independently by the Indian partners and the construction of health centers will allow the French teams to concentrate on further actions.

Funding :
The total budget for the project for 5 years of functioning amounts to around 450,000 € (75,000 € a year). The project will be funded in accordance with the existing principles of financing: partly through public and private funds and partly with Partage dans le Monde 's own funds.

The budget includes :

  • running costs of the Mobile Medical Unit (human and material resources, transportation and logistics)
  • training of Health Workers
  • building of long term health centers
